I'm afraid I didn't get to complete the baby quilt top this weekend, in fact I'm amazed I got as much sewing done as I did with all the busyness of this weekend.
This is the first quilt I've made where I had to piece the blocks first, I've only made a couple of quilts before and used charm squares or strips of fabric. It took me a few attempts to get all the seams to match up, but I got there in the end.
Then my youngest daughter popped her head around my craft room door and sweetly asked if I could fix a ripped seam in her favourite dress as she needed to pack it for a trip in about 30 minutes.
I managed to fix it but the seam was ripped and frayed and I had to sew a slightly larger seam in one place which caused some puckering. Clever me decided to try and iron out the puckers and forgot I left the iron on a hot setting and promptly melted a lovely hole in her much loved dress.
We decided to try something radical and sewed a little butterfly hexagon patch over the hole, it's given the dress a decidedly vintage vibe which she loves, and at just 22 she can carry off the look well.
I eventually got back to the sewing machine and left the quilt with the middle panel finished and one of the pieced borders in place.

Love the new design feature on the dress. Clever thinking. Such sweet fabrics in the quilt.
